Urban Outfitters and J. Press Collaborate For More Affordable Menswear

J. Press the high-end preppy menswear retailer has teamed up with Urban Outfitters to create a more affordable version of their collection just in time for the holiday season.

The J. Press for Urban Outfitters collection is currently selling shirts, jackets, pants and accessories that start at $28 for a belt and go up to $148 for a blazer which isn’t too bad considering the actual J. Press pieces start around $500 and up. The new collection is currently being sold at all Urban Outffitters locations as well as online.

The press release says: "We wanted to recreate the height of traditional Ivy League style in the early '60s," says design director, Mikito Takeshima. Drawing on influences from the film Animal House and the popular television show Happy Days, the 20-piece collection offers preppy casuals mixed with classic basics and relaxed styling. The exclusive line includes solid and striped oxfords, slim-fit pants, a Black Watch tartan golf jacket, and a wool vest, alongside several collegiate accessories such as a Dartmouth scarf, Princeton tie, and Cornell belt.

Geek Chic Glasses Are Totally Cool!

Looking nerdy has never been cooler! The geek chic eyeglasses trend has emerged in the past few years and is stronger than ever! Wearing oversized thick frames is no longer considered unpopular or unattractive. The geek chic look nowadays is all about being trendy and sexy. Nerdy glasses are appearing on the runways and in high fashion print ads of designers such as Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana.

What exactly is the Geek Chic Trend?
It’s all about the oversized pair of thick vintage looking eyeglasses. They can be worn with lenses or without. Depending on your style you can get the classic black or go for a more eccentric look with pink, red or even clear. The frames must be bigger than the typical glasses you would normally wear. What truly makes this trend cool is how you pair the glasses with your outfit. Personally my style is pretty glam so I would pair my geek chic glasses with a long sequined jacket, leggings and over the knee boots.
The nerd trend has really elevated eyeglasses to a whole new level in fashion. Nerdy glasses are now being used to dress up an outfit just like you would with any other accessory. In fact the geek chic glasses trend has become so popular that you don’t even need a prescription to own a pair! You can buy non-prescription eyeglasses at stores like Hot Topic and American Apparel. High-end designer frames can be purchased from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Ray-Ban. While more affordable brands like Urban Outfitters and Walmart also carry great geek chic frames.
